Final Edits: The Vows of Kings Long Since Dead

First Stage Drafting: The Crow King

The

Vows of Kings Long Since Dead

"Soon, I will be immortalised too. Standing beside my king, a hero. A straight line running through me from horn to tail. I will look like I used to, whole again. Everyone who passes will peer up and say 'There is Sylvern, the strongest Dijari that ever lived. Up there with the greatest, beside the gods.' Soon, soon, soon. Just need to get to that damn door."

Above the clouds, where houses fight over floating kingdoms, House Himmel reigns supreme, bolstered by the warrior race of Dijari. SYLVERN, a battle-scarred war hero and the King's personal Dijari, believes his debilitating injuries mean his life of servitude has come to an end. An honourable death awaits and he will be reborn amongst the gods. However, how often does fate go the way we plan it?

A grimdark fantasy with elements of humour. A character driven story, exploring themes of freedom and identity.

The

Crow King

"Abandon your body, your mind, your soul,

For the Crow King feasts tonight."

Watch this space. Currently drafting.

Between Light and Dark

"A great evil will be freed and every footstep he takes, the land will bleed in his wake."

For his name to be written alongside the greats, a dream unfulfilled. Unfortunately Oscar's career hasn't gone how he planned, but one last change remains. He leads a team unearthing ancient ruins. What will he find? Treasure? A great King's tomb? An undiscovered civilization? Well, he was certainly not expecting a long imprisoned creature.

Who will reign supreme; a demon who wants nothing more than his freedom or a man willing to do anything to unravel the secrets of an immortal being?

A character driven fantasy.

The

Grave Singer

"Coffin lowered. Six foot deep. The corpse left to lie in the earth. Slowly decaying and turning to dust. Alone now the mourners have gone; back to the light of the living world with only their memories to cherish."

Leif, a gardener of sorts. Works between the land of the living and dead. His duty; to watch over burial grounds, to sing songs to the spirits and plant seeds to mark graves. A job he's enjoyed for hundreds, no thousands of years. But when one of the dead doesn't stay dead, his nice, neat, normal life goes horribly wrong.

A mythological fantasy story.

The

Life of Water

"Water and Earth shall never mix"

For feet to touch solid ground. To walk under the sun's rays and feel the wind's caress on your cheek. A dream long held by the bored water god Kai. One day a star falls to the ocean floor, and you know what they say about wishes and stars.

A fairytale...of sorts.

A completed three part fantasy graphic novel with one spin off.

About Me

Bekki is an aspiring fantasy writer who, despite her best efforts to be more cheerful, always delves into the grim and dark. She studied art and illustration but has always been interested in telling stories from the viewpoint of morally grey characters, where the world isn't always full of sunshine and rainbows and the power of friendship and love certainly doesn't conquer all.

Now it's time to stop sitting in her room, writing all these stories to herself and do something with them. If you would be interested in her work then please fill out the contact form.

Short story 'Our Sins Laid Bare' soon to be published in Portals, an anthology. Published local history/folk stories for the newspaper and a member of a writing circle.
